Police have found a car believed to have been driven by the man they are seeking in relation to last week's shooting in Motueka.
Jahdai Brice Kennard is being sought over a police pursuit that ended with another man, Ford Hurinui, being shot by officers.
Detective Inspector Kevin Burke of Nelson police said the BMW driven by Kennard after the event has been found in Motueka overnight but they are still searching for him, and he is considered a risk to the public.
He said an arrest warrant has been issued for Kennard after he failed to appear in the Nelson District Court yesterday on unrelated matters.
Ford Hurinui remains in a serious condition in Wellington Hospital 's intensive care unit.
