Whanau Ora report due out today

8:23 am on 7 September 2015

A report into the effectiveness of Whanau Ora is due to be released this afternoon.

It will examine how well the Maori wellbeing programme operated over its first four years, from 2010 to 2014.

In May, the running of the initiative came in for heavy criticism from Auditor-General Lyn Provost, who found that a third of the total spending for Whanau Ora was on administration.

She said the ministry managing the money, Te Puni Kokiri, could have spent more of the administration funds on whanau.
