A person has been taken to hospital following a house fire in Parkdale Drive, Whanganui, early this morning.
Two fire crews were called to the property shortly after 6am, when a neighbour spotted plumes of smoke coming from the house.
There were two occupants at the time of the fire and one was taken to Whanganui Hospital with smoke inhalation, the fire service said.
It was investigating the cause of the fire and said it was not yet known whether the house had smoke alarms.
