A man accused of involvement in the death of a six-month-old girl on the Kapiti Coast has pleaded not guilty to murdering her.

Michael Kereopa made a brief appearance in the High Court in Wellington this morning.

Gracie May McSorley died in July from injuries which police allege were deliberately caused by Mr Kereopa while he was looking after her.

Mr Kereopa's trial is likely to take place in July next year and is expected to run for two to three weeks.

He has been remanded in custody, to reappear in court on 23 November.
