A Gisborne high country farmer is warning that rural roads in the region are dangerous and slippery following yesterday's heavy rain, which caused flooding and closed roads.
Sam Hain runs Waikura Station, 50 kilometres west of Gisborne.
He says there is still a lot of surface flooding and while driving today he saw a ute that had gone off the road into a drain.
Mr Hain says the ground in paddocks still has some capacity left to take on more water before it starts to cause damage.
