Nelson police are appealing to witnesses who might have seen a man pull what appeared to be a firearm from a car in Richmond late this morning.
The incident happened in the Richmond Mall car park about 11.30am.
A police spokesperson said they were told by members of the public the man, who was with two associates, abused the woman driver of another vehicle parked behind his vehicle.
A man was arrested shortly after and the police say they recovered a gas powered imitation pellet rifle from the boot of a car.
