The police are hunting a man who tried to order a schoolboy into his car in the Wairarapa.
The student was approached while cycling home from Greytown School yesterday afternoon.
Officers say the suspect told the boy several times to get into the car and at one point got out of his vehicle to speak to the boy.
He ignored the man and biked home to raise the alarm.
The older car was described as a red sedan, possibly dark red, and the man as old with long, messy, white hair and a white beard.
