Shanton back in business after liquidation

Budget fashion retailer Shanton, which went into liquidation earlier this year, is reopening 13 stores after being bought up by one of its former creditors.

The troubled chain went into voluntary administration in January, closing 17 of its 37 stores, before being put into liquidation in June, owing $7.8 million.

Shanton's new owner is Auckland-based company, Revolucija Limited, headed by Juliana Yelavich, whose streetwear company Volapuk Design was among those left out of pocket when the chain went under.

The company was previously placed in receivership in 2012 under different owners.
