Men arrested over South Auckland robberies

1:25 pm on 30 September 2015

Two men have been arrested in relation to a string of robberies in south Auckland.

Six banks and Post Shops and a service station have been held up over the past two months.

The police say a 35-year-old man is now facing seven charges, and a 21-year-old faces five.

They say bank staff had been on high alert, and they hope the arrests will provide a degree of reassurance to people working in the banking community.

The police say crimes of this type generally give offenders very little reward, but they're likely to get substantial jail time if convicted.
