A 17-year-old charged with extortion has been remanded on bail.
He is accused of sending letters to two families with children at Christchurch's Mount Pleasant School in June, threatening to harm their children unless a payment was made.
He has been granted interim name suppression and remanded on bail for three weeks so he can seek legal advice.
