A cargo ship with more than 30 crew on board is missing off the Bahamas in heavy seas whipped up by Hurricane Joaquin.
The hurricane has been downgraded from a Category Four storm to a Category Three but it is still bringing winds of more than 200 kilometres an hour to the Bahamas and other Carribean islands.
The US Coastguard said the cargo ship reported it had lost power and was listing and taking on water yesterday, but there has been no further communication since the distress call was received.
