An eight-year-old boy has died after being hit by a car on State Highway 5 near Tirau in South Waikato.
Police said the boy was with his father when their vehicle broke down yesterday afternoon, and the father went across the road to get water for the radiator.
They said the boy initially stayed in the vehicle, but then decided to follow his father across the road and was hit.
