Staff member shouldn't have been back on school grounds

The Education Ministry is critical of a school's decision to allow a staff member facing sex charges onto the school grounds.

The ministry won't name the school, but said it received two anonymous complaints in September about the staff member, who was due in court later this month.

The ministry's head of sector enablement and support Katrina Casey said the staff member had already been stood down and should no longer have been at the school in any capacity.

Ms Casey said the school's board had told the ministry the staff member would not have any involvement with the school until the outcome of the court case was known.
