A remote part of the Kaiangaroa Forest near Taupo is cordoned off as police investigate the fatal shooting of a hunter.
Police say a hunting party was in the area when a gun was fired this afternoon, and a man was killed.
Police said they were interviewing other people in the group as they investigate what happened.
They said there was no other information about the incident or the person who was killed.
