A man has escaped from the Auckland District Court while he was in an interview room meeting his own lawyer.
The police are looking for Uta Marsh, who disappeared from the central city court about 4pm.
They believe he will try to go to the Panmure and Glen Innes area.
Mr Marsh is described as 1.84m tall, and was wearing a grey jumper with pink writing on the back, and dark-coloured shorts.
A Ministry of Justice spokesperson said the man was in the police cells area of the court when he escaped, and was therefore in police custody at the time.
