New Zealand on Air has agreed to fund a movie about the Helen Milner case and how she was exposed as her husband's killer.

Milner was found guilty last year of the 2009 murder of Philip Nisbet.

She gave him an overdose of an antihistamine he was allergic to, because she wanted to claim his

$250,000 life insurance policy.

The police initially concluded the death was suicide, but re-opened their investigation after questions were raised by Mr Nisbet's sister, Lee-Anne Cartier.

Milner is currently serving a non-parole sentence of 17 years.

New Zealand on Air is putting more than $2 million into Catching the Black Widow, a feature-length film being made by a Wellington production company, KHF Media.
