All-clear over asbestos

11:22 am on 9 November 2015

Students and staff have been given the all-clear to return to Kaipara College in Helensville after asbestos dust was found in several buildings more than a week ago.

The school was closed on 30 October after routine tests found the dust in the school hall, administration building and music and drama areas.

Principal John Grant said the hall's roof, which had been sealed, will be replaced over the summer break.

Mr Grant said areas of concern had been fenced off, while all other school buildings had been declared asbsestos-free and were safe to use.
