Sacked worker wins $27,000 compensation

A Nelson based radio communications company has been ordered to pay a former worker almost $27,000 compensation after he was sacked last year.

The Employment Relations Authority has upheld claims by Duncan McNab he was wrongfully dismissed by Mount Campbell Communications in August , and that he was humiliated by the process.

The ERA said Mr McNab was appointed as an account manager after persistent attempts, and despite the reservations of the company's director.

It says he was unjustifiably disadvantaged because the company breached the employment agreement by not providing support or training.
