About 65 people turned up at the Wellington airport company's first open day on its proposed runway extension with residents divided over its merits.
The airport says the $350 million project could bring the country an extra $2 billion after costs.
At last night's meeting, there was an even split of people for and against the proposal. Another session is being held tonight and a final one on Saturday.
