Committee considers legislation on next step of Christchurch rebuild

8:40 am on 11 December 2015

A parliamentary select committee will meet in Christchurch today to consider new legislation which will govern the next step of the post-quake rebuild.

The Greater Christchurch Regeneration Bill will establish the agency, Regenerate Christchurch, which will oversee the long-term development of the central city.

Regenerate Christchurch will replace the Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority, and will exist until 2021.

The select committee is meeting at the Christchurch City Council offices today and may continue tomorrow.
