Teacher suspended over vodka in handbag

7:59 pm on 14 December 2015

The Teachers Disciplinary Tribunal has censured and suspended a teacher who walked into St Kentigern's College with a bottle of vodka in her handbag.

The tribunal said Rochelle Craig argued with a colleague and swore in front of children but denied suggestions she was drunk during the incident, which happened in 2013.

It said Ms Craig resigned from her job as a head of department and agreed with the tribunal's Complaints Assessment Committee that she would not to return to teaching while she sought support for depression and stress.

But the school's headmaster refused to sign the agreement and the case returned to the disciplinary tribunal earlier this year.

The tribunal has censured Ms Craig for serious misconduct and suspended her practising certificate for 18 months, or until she is fit to practice.
