Christchurch police are investigating an incident in which a man threatened another man with a metal bar and then hit him with his van.
The police say the assault happened about 8.30am today on Riccarton Road near Clarence Street.
Acting senior sergeant Melanie Noonan said the driver of the van approached the driver of a transport truck and threatened him with a metal bar.
As the van driver pulled away, he drove his vehicle into the truck driver who had got out of his truck.
The truck driver was treated at the scene.
Ms Noonan said anyone who witnessed the assault should contact the police.
