Five people injured in crash involving police car

Five people were injured after a police car and another vehicle collided in the Bombay area, south of Auckland, last night.

Officers were responding to an incident in the Bombay area at about a 6.45pm last night, and had their lights and sirens blaring when the accident occurred.

Five people in the other car, all in their early 20s, were taken to hospital. Two with minor injuries were discharged last night.

The other three are believed to have sustained minor to moderate injuries.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating, and the Independent Police Conduct Authority has been notified.
