The driver of a car that hit a train in Wairarapa this morning was not injured and both vehicles had only minor damage.
Police said the train driver did not notice the crash at the time.
A member of the public called police after seeing the damaged empty car by the train tracks on the side of Lake Road in south Wairarapa.
The man driving the car has been found.
The Masterton to Wellington train service was running about 15 minutes late as a result of the incident.
