Eight fire crews are battling a blaze at a McDonalds restaurant in the Upper Hutt suburb of Silverstream.
A Fire Service spokesman said emergency services were alerted to the fire on Fergusson Drive just after 2pm.
Everyone has been safely evacuated from the building.
