Official figures show British police arrested a record number of children for terrorism offences last year.

While the total number of terrorism-related arrests fell slightly, the Home Office figures show 16 children aged under 18 were held in 2015, up from 10 the year before and the highest number ever recorded.

Forty-five women were detained on suspicion of terrorism crimes - a 15 percent increase on the previous year.

In total, there were 280 terrorism-related arrests, nine less that the previous year.
