A tropical depression has been located west of Vanuatu and is expected to lie southwest of Fiji later this week.

The Fiji Meteorological Service says the system could develop into a cyclone in the next 24-48 hours.

It said Fiji may experience rain associated with the system once it moves further south.

Meanwhile the Fiji Government has extended the State of Natural Disaster after Cyclone Winston for another 30 days until 19 April.
