Three prison inmates will appear in court next week charged with the assault of a fellow inmate at Whanganui Prison.
The man was treated for a serious head injury at Wellington Hospital after being set upon by a group last October.
Detective Sergeant Glenn Toy says an extensive investigation into the assault by police and Corrections concluded today with the men's arrest.
They all face charges of wounding with intent to injure.
