Two people are in custody following an Armed Offenders Squad call-out in the Christchurch suburb of Aranui this morning.
A police spokesperson says officers were doing a bail check at a house in St Heliers Crescent when they were threatened by an occupant who claimed to be in possession of a firearm.
A cordon and road closures were put in place as police negotiated with those inside.
The spokesperson said the police were now searching the house.
All cordons have been removed and all roads have reopened.
