A man has died after his car left the road and went down a steep gully in the Waitaki District - which is between Canterbury and Otago.
Police said they believed the car, which was found this morning, crashed off the Tokarahi Duntroon Road last night.
They said the 47-year-old driver was found dead at the scene, and a Serious Crash Investigation had been launched.
