A serious crash investigation is underway into the cause of a campervan fire that killed a woman and seriously injured a man near Matamata on Friday
Lydia Kiri, who was 54 and from Opotiki, died.
A 72-year-old man, who was also in the vehicle when the fire began, remains in a serious condition in Waikato Hospital.
He received burns to more than half of his body.
Waikato District Road Policing Manager Inspector Freda Grace said while it was still unclear exactly how the fire started, motorists needed to ensure that their vehicles were fit for the road.
