A ferry service between downtown Auckland and Waiheke Island is calling it quits after a year and a half.
Explore Group says stopping the operation was a difficult decision, but the numbers haven't stacked up.
Explore Group managing director William Goodfellow says there are a number of reasons why the Waiheke service has not worked, including infrastructure problems.
When the service celebrated its first birthday last October, it said it was carrying a significant share of Waiheke Island's commuters and that there was a big demand for an alternative ferry service.
Sailings will end on 8 May.
