The Paekakariki Hill Road, near State highway 58, is closed after a shed fire.
The Fire Service was called to the blaze just after 2pm.
A Fire Service spokesperson said the main priority was to stop the fire spreading to a nearby house.
The blaze was put out, but the road was expected to remained closed for some time to protect fire crew working near the road while they dampened down hotspots.
