The police in Dunedin are investigating the attempted abduction of an 18-year-old woman yesterday afternoon.

A police spokesperson said the woman was grabbed by someone in the back seat of a car parked on the left hand side of Forth Street facing north.

The driver also attempted to push her in, but she managed to fight her way free.

The police asked for sightings of the car, described as a dirty late-1990s station wagon with black roof-racks.
