Greek unions protest pension reforms

1:13 pm on 8 May 2016

Protesters have rallied outside the Greek parliament where MPs have been debating controversial reforms to state pensions.

Reducing the size of the country's pension bill has been a key demand of foreign lenders before they release the next tranche of an international bailout.

Members of trade unions opposed to a further pension cut have gone out on strike for 48 hours.

The protests forced the postponement of the Greek football cup final, with the police saying they did not have enough officers to cover both the match and the demonstration.
