A truck jack-knifed on State Highway 2 in the Hutt Valley causing delays for motorists.
The crash had blocked north and southbound lanes at Moonshine Bridge, Trentham.
The bridge has reopened but drivers are warned to expect delays while the backlog of traffic is cleared.
