National MP for Waikato, Lindsay Tisch, will retire from Parliament at next year's election.
Mr Tisch, a former National Party president, entered Parliament in 1999.
He currently holds the role of Assistant Speaker and sits on two select committees - Foreign Affairs Defence and Trade, and Law and Order.
Mr Tisch said it had been a privilege to serve Waikato constituents and to have helped develop some of Parliament's rules, through speaker's rulings and standing orders.
