NZX records 20-point rise

The benchmark NZX 50 has risen 20 points to close at 3434 on turnover of $135 million on Friday.

In currency markets at 5.26pm the dollar was trading at 82.63 US cents, 77.62 Australian, 52.23 pence, 67.64 yen and 0.6229 euro. The TWI stood at 73.18.

Fletcher Building was up 3 cents to $6.63, Telecom up 5 cents to $2.38, Chorus up 10 cents to $3.50, and Contact Energy down 2 cents to $4.96.

Sky City Entertainment was up 2 cents to $3.80, Sky Television up 1 cent to $5.22, Port of Tauranga down 22 cents at $10.68 and Air New Zealand down 1.5 cents to 86 cents.

The Warehouse was up 15 cents to $2.80, after lifting its half year profit, while Briscoe Group was up 6 cents to $1.53 after posting a record annual profit.
