Stockmarket closed down on Friday

The New Zealand sharemarket fell on Friday with the NZX 50 down 25 points to close at 3449.

Turnover was $124 million.

Among the major share movements, Fletcher Building was down 15 cents to $6.80, Telecom was down 1.5c to $2.37, Chorus gained 7c to close at $3.47 and Contact Energy was down 6c to $4.63.

Auckland International Airport shed 2.5c to close at $2.42 and Air New Zealand was down 0.5c to 86c.

Sky City Entertainment gained 5c to $3.84, Sky Television Network was down 4c to $5.07, and Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was down 1c to $2.25.

Ports of Tauranga lost 5c to $10.80, AMP was down 7c to $5.45 and Mainfreight was unchanged at $9.55.

In the currency markets, at 5.20pm the New Zealand dollar was buying 81.22 US, 78.05 Australian, 51.33 pence, 67.25 Yen, and 0.6150 euro.

The Trade Weighted Index stood at 72.51.
