Auckland Mayor Len Brown will lead a trade delegation to China next week, seeking to open doors for Auckland businesses.
The delegation is Auckland Council's first outbound trade mission. The mayor and Cr Richard Northey will lead representatives from 28 Auckland businesses and organisations to five cities in China.
The mission coincides with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between New Zealand and China.
Mr Brown says China plays an immensely important role in Auckland's economic development.
He says businesses have been selected from the priority sectors of infrastructure, tourism, education, film, biotech and investment, which together represent 58 per cent of the Auckland economy.
