Sharemarket ends Wednesday down 10 points

The New Zealand sharemarket ended Wednesday down.

The NZX50 lost 10 points to close at 3465.

Among the major share movements, Fletcher Building was down 12 cents at $6.02, Telecom gained 2 cents to close at $2.495, Chorus lost 1 cent to $3.44 and Contact Energy was up 9 cents at $4.78.

Freightway gained 4 cents to $3.94 while Mainfreight was down 17 cents at $9.54.

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare lost 13 cents to close on Wednesday at $2.20 and Fisher & Paykel Appliances gained half a cent at 49.5 cents.

SkyCity Entertainment was down 2 cents to $3.90 and Sky Television shed 1 cent to $5.28.

Oceana Gold unchanged at $2.98 and Vector was down 2 cents at $2.66.

On the currency markets, at 5.20pm the New Zealand dollar was buying 81.68 US cents, 79.43 Australian, 51.47 pence, 66.02 yen, and 0.6240 euro.

The trade-weighted index stood at 72.02.
