Fletcher Building up as NZX 50 lifts 21 points

The NZX 50 jumped 21 points on Thursday to close at 3487 points.

Key stocks which contributed to the lift included Fletcher Building up 13 cents at $6.15, cornerstone stock Telecom, up 1.5 cents at $2.51, Contact Energy up 5 cents at $4.83, and Freightway up 1 cent to $3.95, while Mainfreight also rose 1 cent, to $9.55

Falls were recorded by Fisher & Paykel Healthcare, down 3 cents at $2.17, and SkyCity Entertainment down 3 cents to $3.87.

At the end of the local business day, the New Zealand dollar was trading at 81.95 US cents, 79.05 Australian cents, 51.46 pence, 66.38 yen and 0.6239. The Trade Weighted Index was at 73.04 points.
