NZ Superannuation Fund discusses forest estate ownership

8:20 pm on 2 May 2012

The New Zealand Superannuation Fund says it's in talks to purchase the majority stake in the Kaingaroa forest estate from its partner, the US pension fund Harvard Management.

Harvard currently holds a 60% stake in Kaingaroa, which is an estate of about 170,000 hectares of harvesting rights to plantation forest located in the Central North Island.

The fund owns the remainder in the forest estate.

It says there will be no further comment until the discussions are concluded.
