New Zealand market up on Wednesday

The NZX50 index has risen 38 points, or 1.1%, to close at 3615 on turnover of $98 million on Wednesday.

When the markets closed the NZ dollar was at 81.49 US, 78.75 Australian cents, 50.17 pence, 65.49 yen and 0.6149 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 72.38.

Fletcher Building was up 17 cents at $6.53, Telecom was up 1 cent at $2.645, Chorus was up 4 cents at $3.57 and Contact Energy was up 9 cents at $4.94.

ANZ was down 25 cents to $30.20 after lifting its half year profit by one third to $615 million.

SkyCity Entertainment was up 6 cents at $3.92, Sky Network Television was up 7 cents to $5.60, Auckland International Airport was up 4.5 cents to $2.58, and Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was down 3 cents at $2.18.

TradeMe was up 14 cents to a post-float high of $3.82.

Hallenstein Glasson was down 1 cent to $3.94. Pumpkin Patch was unchanged at $1.02 and Xero was up 17 cents to $4.35.

TrustPower was up 10 cents at $7.40 after announcing it is progressing with plans to expand its windfarm in South Australia.

Pyne Gould was up 1 cent to 33 cents after the FMA said it was inquiring about the company's related party transactions.
