New Zealand market up 10 points on Thursday

The NZX50 index rose 10 points, or 0.3%, to close at 3569 on turnover of $114 million on Thursday.

When the markets closed the NZ dollar was at 78.67 US, 77.83 Australian, 48.72 pence, 62.68 yen and 0.6073 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 70.55.

Guiness Peat Group was unchanged at 49.5 cents as the Shareholders' Association urged investors not to vote Sir Ron Brierley as chairman.

Fletcher Building was down 1 cent at $6.21, Telecom was up 2 cents at $2.59 and Chorus was down 1 cent at $3.16.

Fisher & Paykel Healthcare was up 1 cent at $2.28.

Mainfreight was down 6 cents at $9.69 and Freightway was up 4 cents at $4.15.

Auckland Airport was unchanged at $2.59, Infratil was up 2 cents at $2.03 and Contact Energy was up 3 cents at $4.87.

Sky City was down 1 cent at $3.91 and Sky TV was up 3 cents at $5.51.
