New Zealand markets up 1.1% on Wednesday

The benchmark NZX50 index closed up 38 points, or 1.1 percent, to 3483 on Wednesday.

When the markets closed the NZ dollar was buying 80.52 US, 78.24 Australian, 51.38 pence, 64.25 yen, and 0.6399 euro. The Trade Weighted Index was at 72.61.

Fletcher Building was up 6 cents to $6.26, Telecom was up 6 at $2.49, Chorus was up 2 cents at $3.20 and Contact Energy was down 2 cents at $4.84.

Sky City Entertainment was up 3 cents at $3.50, Sky Network TV was up 1 cent at $4.83 and Auckland International Airport was up 2 cents to $2.43.

Xero was up 5 cents to $5, Hallenstein Glasson was up 6 cents to $4.09, OceanaGold was up 29 cents to $2.59 and Cavalier Corp was up 1 cent to $1.56.
