Food prices rose sharply in June, driven by higher fruit and vegetable prices.
Statistics New Zealand says the food price index was up 1.4% on the previous month, but was 0.2% lower on the same month last year.
Fresh fruit and vegetables rose 9% in May, with a 1.3% rise in meat and poultry.
Food prices make up 18.79% of the consumer price index (CPI).
Second quarter CPI data is due next week.
