New Zealand market closes higher

The NZX 50 was up 1.5 points to 3,469 on a turnover of $120 million at close of trading on Tuesday.

The NZ dollar was buying 79.98 US cents, 77.62 Australian cents, 51.06 pence, 63.12 Japanese yen, 0.6507 euro and the Trade Weighted was at 72.42.

Fletcher Building was down 1 cent to $5.89, Telecom down 0.5 cents to $2.46 and Chorus down 3 cents to $3.13.

Auckland Airport was down 1.5 cents to $2.51, Contact Energy up 2 cents to $4.83, Cavalier Carpet up 2 cents to $1.58 and Diligent was up 8 cents to $4.00 after its quarterly sales tripled.

Kathmandu Holdings was unchanged at $1.43 and Michael Hill unchanged at $1.00.

PGG Wrightson was unchanged at 31 cents and Heartland up 2 cents to 55 cents after Pyne Gould Corporation sold down more of its stake in the two companies.

Port of Tauranga was up 5 cents to $11.30, Sky City up 5 cents to $3.55, Sky TV unchanged at $4.95 and Ryman was down 8 cents to $3.52.

Xero was up 45 cents to $5.70 after saying it is working with US payroll provider, ADP, as part of its plans to crack the US market.
