Korean Air, Emirates fined

7:00 pm on 27 July 2012

The High Court has ordered Korean Air and Emirates to pay penalties of $3.5 million and $1.5 million respectively for breaches of the Commerce Act

The two carriers admitted liability in the Commerce Commission's price fixing case for agreeing fuel and security surcharges for cargo flown to New Zealand.

Six airlines have now settled with the Commission in what is an ongoing case.

Six others, including Air New Zealand, are expected to continue defending charges in March next year.
