NZX 50 index lifts a little

The NZX 50 rose 6 points on Friday to close at 3792 on turnover of $106 million.

Fisher and Paykel Appliances fell 0.5 cents to $1.17, Fisher and Paykel Healthcare fell 15 cents to $2.11.

Australian-controlled energy company Contact fell 2 cents to $5.01, Port of Tauranga fell 5 cents to $12.65, and the share price for Chorus dropped 1 cent to $3.52,

Tower fell 2 cents to $1.78 after announcing this week that its chairperson will step down now instead of February when his term was set to expire.

Cornerstone stock Telecom fell 1.5 cents to $2.48.

Unchanged share prices included Ryman ($4.05) The Warehouse ($2.90) and Sky City ($3.93).

Mainfreight's share price rose 9 cents to $10.39, Infratil rose 2.5 cents to $2.16, Fletcher Building rose 11 cents to $6.80 and New Zealand Oil and Gas rose 1 cent to 86 cents

Exchange operator NZX Ltd rose 3 cents to $1.11, and accounting software seller Xero rose 2 cents to $4.95.

At the close of the Friday's trading, the exchange rate for the NZ dollar was 83.46 US cents, 78.90 Australian cents, 51.53 British pence, 64.81 Japanese yen, 0.6408 Euro, and the TWI was at 73.65 points.
